![]() There are many plants used for honey making on Fruska Gora. That is why Fruska Gora is called ‘sweet mountain’. Huge number of springs and brooks, areas covered by forests and meadows, make good conditions for beekeeping during several months over the year. Every year, more than 30 000 bee hives is placed at the Fruska Gora mountain. Linden, covers 12 000 ha of Fruska Gora mountain, is tree used for bee pasture. Thanks to different elevation and thus different time of linden flourishing, it is possible to pasture bees even twice per year. There are places in National Park specialized for bee keeping and bee hives placing (average number of bee hives placed on Fruska Gora per year is 30 000), offered to private beekeepers. Every year, at the end of the May, it is possible to make a reservation of the place for bee hive, for a minimal charge – 0,5 kg of honey per bee hive (or its value in Yugoslav dinars). |
