Fruškogorski maraton There are numerous opportunities to make short day hike excursions in all regions of Fruska Gora National Park. It is important that one should be mentally and physically well prepared for hiking, and also have appropriate booting and clothing. Boots should be sturdy, well-fitted, broken-in, and equipped with cushioned insoles. Thick socks and polypropylene liners are standard wear. Hiking trails on Fruska Gora lead to remote areas of the park through rich and beautiful mixed hornbeam, durmast and white lime forests, hill meadows and steppe-like grasslands . Some offer easy part-day trips over gentle terrain; others require skill and endurance because of their elevation, length and ruggedness. Most are marked with directional signs helping hikers not to be lost and to find Mountain Fan Clubs. There are three Mountain Fan Clubs on Fruska Gora where one can rest, have a lunch or stay for a night. Those are 'Strazilovo' at famous excursion spot Strazilovo, 'Zanatilja' near the peak Glavica and 'Zeleznicar', at also popular excursion spot Popovica. Marathon at Fruska Gora mountain has 20 years long tradition. Every year in May, thousands of friends and fans of nature spend a lovely day hiking, running or biking. Marathons are of different lengths and they offer real challenges to participants. ![]() |
